Armenian Youth Foundation Sets June 29, 2015 for its 16th Annual Golf Tournament
WATERTOWN, MA - The Armenian Youth Foundation Board of Directors announced that its 16th annual golf tournament will be held at the legendary Franklin Country Club in Franklin, MA – the site of several prestigious LPGA, MGA and USGA events. For those who have not played the 6,600 yard, par 71 course previously, it also holds the distinction of abutting A.Y.F. Camp Haiastan and sharing a pond on the 13th hole. It is not uncommon for golfers to be lining up a putt on number thirteen to the sweet sounds of John Berberian playing in the background.
The Tournament is one of the Armenian Youth Foundation’s largest fundraising events of the year, which in turn, allows the organization to continue to provide financial support to a wide range organizations benefitting Armenian – American youth. 2014 was a historic year for the Foundation during which it pledged over $110,000 in grant awards to such worthwhile organizations as: the Hovnanian School of New Milford, NJ; St. Stephen’s Armenian Elementary School of Watertown, MA; “From Sacred Wrath” a New York based off-Broadway theatrical production commemorating the Armenian Genocide and AYF Camp Haiastan in Franklin, MA.
According to Foundation Chair Stepan Kanarian, “foursomes are available to corporate sponsors as well as individual participants.”
The Tournament will feature three divisions of players scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start (box lunches will be provided on the course). Registration and driving range access begins at 10:30 am.
In addition to awards for divisional champions, closet to the pin and longest drive, the Golf Committee is also planning an awards dinner, prize raffle and live auction following the Tournament.
